In August 2021, TV channel 2×2 updated its logo — and the new stylised numerals turned out to be virtually indistinguishable from the date 11.11. AliExpress spotted the coincidence first and proposed a collaboration: the channel's logo became the teaser for the year's biggest sale. The best media insight is the one that already exists.
In August 2021, 2×2 refreshed its brand identity: the new logo used stylised Roman twos — II II. AliExpress was first to see the obvious: read horizontally, that's 11.11 — the date of the year's biggest sale. The insight was hiding in plain sight, but someone had to spot it.
Instead of standard media placement, a native collaboration was born: the channel's logo began to live a double life — as 2×2's brand identity and as an AliExpress 11.11 teaser simultaneously. Neither brand lost itself, but both gained extra meaning.
During the campaign the 2×2 logo transformed into an 11.11 announcement right on screen. Animated films featuring the channel's cartoon characters told the sale story in 2×2's own visual style. On 11.11 itself, both logos complemented each other — brand and date merged into a single visual message.
For non-animated segments, video blogger Chuck Review and TikTok star Mirasol joined the campaign. Both are organic fits for the 2×2 audience — a channel with a history in animation and youth content. The campaign worked as a coherent narrative: from broadcast to social media.
The 2×2 campaign is an example of a media partnership built not on placement budget but on an idea. The logo-date coincidence was accidental — but the ability to see opportunity in coincidence is exactly what sets good marketing apart. 2×2 got an unusual way to monetise their new brand identity. AliExpress got native presence on air that felt organic to the channel's audience.
