Tmall launched a spring-summer campaign for the "Home, Garden & DIY" category with the most unexpected hero — a masked maniac who is actually looking not for a victim, but for a new life. Shot in Georgia in a Hitchcock style together with Zebra Hero.
An unlucky maniac is not the obvious hero for home goods advertising. That's exactly what made the idea powerful: any person can reinvent themselves, even the most unexpected one. The masked character wasn't looking for a victim — he was looking for attention, friendship, and warmth. Purchases on Tmall helped him begin his transformation.
The campaign's visual language references Hitchcock and Tom Hardy's masked characters. Stylised horror allowed us to talk about the most ordinary things (a drill, seedlings, curtains) with irony and personality. The client was ready to take a risk — and the bold idea paid off.
